Southwest Airlines - Why are they one of the best?
Southwest Airlines has consistently rated highly among all other airlines for several years for various reasons. This airline may be small and only operate in some areas of the US, but it is actually one of the most successful of all big or small airlines.
For instance, according to the Department of Transportation, it regularly is said to be the airline with the least amount of customer complaints. Unlike the major airlines, Southwest appears to have more respect and caring for their customers. For instance, you don’t have to pay a fee to exchange a ticket with them, while other airlines charge $150 and up. Plus, they will even call you back if the hold time is expected to be extra-long and you don’t want to wait.
Southwest also doesn’t charge for your first two bags you check in or for carryon luggage, and you can get your ticket talking to a real person if you like and there won’t be a few for that either. Even with their somewhat annoying loading process, they still do better than other airlines once you get inside.
For instance, they have fun airline attendants who sing and joke while giving you the usually boring safety talk, thus making people listen more. They also get high marks for their baggage handling skills.
Southwest is also said to care about their employees as well. In fact, even after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, they have not cut flights or laid off employees and are actually making a profit, unlike going into bankruptcy like some of the major airlines have had to do since that time.
All in all, if you want free bags, fun airline attendants and a company where the employees are likely happier, then fly Southwest Airlines the next time you fly.
